Coaching with Hands-On Thinking using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®

If you can see the invisible, you can do the impossible.  As coaches and conversation facilitators, we all have clients who get stuck in their heads or sometimes have difficulties grasping the right words to explain their situation. They come to us with cluttered minds, and we help them separate out what isn’t working or connect with what is.  And sometimes we need a hand – which the philosopher Kant called the human’s visible brain and the window to the mind.

Building upon Constructionism Learning Theory, Gestalt psychology, Systemic Constellations, and the power of metaphor, facilitating reflective spaces with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) methods allows people to think and build their emerging thoughts with their hands enabling them to make tangible what was once invisible.

The primary goal of the session is to share an experiential journey on the power of purposeful play in coaching, specifically focusing on hands-on thinking with LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methods.  The session will explore the impacts of bringing more hands-on purposeful play into your one-to-one and one-to-many thinking spaces where our embodied cognition and meaning-seeking minds may evoke new awareness as we iterate our thoughts with LEGO bricks. It will include multiple hands-on thinking activities for the attendees whether they bring their own LEGO bricks or not. A live demo of an LSP - Liminal Spaces coaching session will anchor the session with an opportunity to reflect on the learnings with other attendees in breakouts and discussion.

> Explore the impacts of bringing more hands-on purposeful play into your one-to-one and one-to-many thinking spaces.
> See a live demonstration of a 1:1 LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® - Liminal Spaces coaching session and then reflect on the process with other thinking partners.
> Have the opportunity to see (and maybe feel!) how hands-on thinking with LSP can utilize our embodied cognition and meaning-seeking minds to deepen connections to our inner world and gain clarity with our outer world.
