ICFSFL WE Power Coaching Program: Nonverbal Strategies for Building Trust in Communication


This session explores how trust is built — or damaged — through nonverbal communication in the first moments of interaction. Participants will learn how quickly people decide whether someone feels credible, safe, and trustworthy, and how subtle behavioral cues influence that decision.

It is a highly practical session and focused on real-life application. Participants will gain clear tools to create stronger first impressions, build rapport naturally, and align their body language with their message. They will also learn to identify common nonverbal behaviors that unintentionally weaken credibility or create distance in conversations.

In addition, the session addresses trust-breaking signals and observable red flags in communication. The goal is not to detect lies, but to help participants become more aware and make more informed judgments before placing trust in others.

Through structured video analysis and a short interactive exercise, participants will practice recognizing both effective and ineffective rapport-building in real time. They will leave with practical guidelines they can immediately apply in leadership, business, negotiations, and everyday interactions.

    Participants will learn how to manage their posture, eye contact, gestures, and tone to create a strong first impression and establish rapport quickly in professional and everyday conversations.

    Attendees will develop the ability to align body language with their message, avoid common trust-breaking behaviors, and communicate in a way that feels consistent, confident, and reliable.

  • Recognize nonverbal red flags before placing trust.
    Participants will gain practical skills to identify observable behaviors that may signal inconsistency, discomfort, or potential unreliability, helping them make more informed decisions in business and personal interactions.
