Partnership Illusion: Rethinking Equality, Power, and Presence in Coaching
This workshop intends to explore the tension between the ideal of partnership and the lived reality of power dynamics in coaching, and to support coaches in embodying partnership more consciously, humanly, and ethically.
What does partnership really mean in coaching—and is it as equal as we assume?
In this thought-provoking 90-minute workshop for our ICF chapter, we’ll explore the hidden power dynamics that can quietly shape the coach-client relationship, even within a profession built on equality. Together, we’ll examine how labels, credentials, payment, experience, and language may unintentionally create hierarchy—and what it truly takes to embody partnership beyond technique. Through reflective dialogue and breakout conversations, this session invites you to deepen your coaching mindset, expand your presence, and reconnect with the human essence at the heart of coaching. Come ready to think, question, and perhaps see partnership in a whole new way.
