Coaching Tip of the Month
Setting our intentions for 2021
Many of us are actively engaged in coaching our clients to consider their goals for 2021. In fact, some of us may be bringing into their awareness the importance of setting intentions for the year. Some of my peers are co-creating vision boards, goals and monthly action plans.
I invite you, fellow coaches, to do the same... for you. Schedule time to set clear intentions for your business and your personal life. Identify what truly matters most to you.
If you are coming with a short list or unclear goals, or if you dread the idea of writing your wish list, try to reframe your thoughts more generously. Use a coach or a peer to help you listen to your thoughts out loud. Think about areas of tension in your life. Perhaps it is most important for you to improve your connection with a colleague or to start calling potential clients whom you deem challenging.
Notice how you feel and what you have paid attention to in the last six months that has worked. Also reflect on what could be missing. Our filters get in the way of the new and different. Revisit your goals and to-do-list for 2020 and notice what you have ignored or what shows up for you.
As you list your intentions for the year, consider that one thing you want to start paying more attention to. If you feel stuck, consider a values solicitation or a vision board. If you were your own coach, what would you tell yourself? What is one area you want to nurture and develop?
Once you have some clarity around your intentions, make sure to share with your family, friends and/or peers. Let your intentions guide your attention.
With love,
Loubna Noureddin
