Coaching Tip of the Month
Have you ever thought that the ICF Code of Ethics is an important selling point to your clients?
As ICF Coaches, we abide by the
ICF Code of Ethics
, which sets us apart when offering our services or even just talking about coaching, especially in competitive situations where non-ICF coaches.
As it is based on values and ethical principles, and standards, the ICF Code of Ethics is the coaching profession's backbone.
The code covers the coach's ethical responsibilities as an individual concerning the client, the coaching community, and society. The code was created in a collective, collaborative process among high-qualified and experienced professionals from multiple regions, considering multiple perspectives and diverse cultural needs.
The ICF Code of Ethics establishes the ground rules to the relationship coach-client and serves to protect both coaches and clients. For clients, defining the standards followed by all coaches who obey and observe the code – holds coaches accountable for providing high standard services. For coaches, because it creates the guidance and standards for the profession. Besides, for coaches, because ICF has an Ethics Board, the code is a living document that is continually evolving to reflect the changes in the profession.
Add the link to the ICF Code of Ethics to your communications with potential and current clients and connect them with the core of being an ICF coach.
