Self-care with Compassion Through Art and Focusing cuidArte is a self care workshop designed for members of International Coaching Federation in which through the expressive arts and other modalities such as a compassive meditation, focusing and journaling, they can have a contained and safe place to explore what the expressive arts can do for them. Coaches best tool is ourselves, therefore, taking care of our feelings, emotions, thoughts, sensations and our body is essential not only for our clients but for ourselves and the ones around us. The expressive arts provides a safe space for us to express what what we feel, sense, and think through a different language, the language of colors, forms, doodles, shapes, movement and sound. Expressing with art allows us to be curious, non-judgemental, and less critical of ourselves, and relieves us from the burden of carrying the stress or conflict within us. Scientific evidence reveals that the process of doing art reduces cortisol and increases the release of endorphins and serotonin, creating well-being. We can also allow ourselves to be wholesomely present and dive in the experience and experience flow, a psychological state of optimal attention and engagement.
