Coaching Across Cultures and Languages: Overcoming the Double Challenge
Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 6:00 PM

Coaches who have moved to the US from South America find themselves with the double challenge of working in a foreign language and culture. This can create concern over making mistakes, acting inappropriately and being judged as unprofessional.

This webinar aims to prepare you and increase your confidence to coach outside your linguistic and cultural comfort zone.

You will have the chance to learn about North American culture focusing on how it differs from Latin culture. Practical tips will be given to help adapt your coaching approach to clients from different cultural backgrounds.

The speaker will also discuss how coaching in a second language affects core competencies and strategies you can use to deal with this.

The final ten minutes will be open for discussion and questions.

About the Speaker: Francesca Smith, MSc, PCC

Born and raised in London, Fran Smith is resident in Brazil and has a deep understanding of Latin and Anglo Saxon cultures, she coaches in both Portuguese and English.

She did her initial coach training ten years ago with the American schools Coach U and Corporate Coach U. She now has over 2.600 hours of experience and has held the PCC credential since 2019. Fran has been acting as a leadership and executive coach for US-based coaching companies for the last four years.

Fran also has a Masters' degree (Aston University, UK) and extensive experience in Teaching English as a Second Language. She combines her two skill sets by running professional training programs for coaches on using English as their second language.
